This position reports to the Act 101 Director in the Center for Student Success + Personal Development, providing administrative support as well as serving as Manager for the Act 101 program. This position serves as the Act 101 Manager; assisting with planning, developing, and implementing student success programs, including leadership development, study skills, and life-skills programs. This is a part-time position not eligible for University benefits. Work hours are limited to 600 per calendar year and less than 29 hours per week on a regular basis.
- Act 101 Manager Responsibilities: Assist Act 101 program by purchasing, distributing, and tracking Lending Library Organize, advertize, and implement Act 101 cultural outings, as well as educational and orientation events Attend Act 101 events Assist with organizing and maintaining inventory of lending library Track completion of workshops Track paperwork completion for all Act 101 students per grant requirements Track data and student files Gather annual report information for PHEAA Budget tracking and room reservations Develop communication tools for student outreach Transport students to events Weekend and evening hours required
- Support the Center for Student Success Mission: Provide academic program advising and course registration; and serve as liaison with academic departments and academic services. Participate in First Year Orientation programming and teach in the First Year Seminar Program each semester Represent the University at professional meetings and conferences Utilize the availability of online programs and frequently used technology Assist with CSSPD events
- Other duties as assigned.
- On occasion may need to drive on behalf of the University.
- Bachelor degree or equivalent work experience required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of prior office/administrative experience required.
- Excellent typing skills; ability to compose and edit materials; attention to detail, strong organizational skills.
- Proficient knowledge of computer packages and databases. A willingness to develop additional computer skills, adjust to other updated technology and grow academically as required.
- Strong oral, written and interpersonal skills with a high energy level.
- Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and follow through.
- Consistently display a high degree of composure and confidentiality when leading students, faculty, staff, and community members to create usable, equitable, inclusive, and sustainable learning environments.
- Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds.
- Experience working with underrepresented college students, first-generation students, and high-risk students.
- Familiar with current trends in higher education and technology, and the ability to enhance the use of technology and other resources to meet student needs.
- Ability to develop and deliver effective personal, social, career, and student development programs to individuals and groups.
- Customer-service oriented and student-focused with the ability to work with diverse populations.
- Collaborative approach and ability to understand, articulate, and promote core values of the institution.
