The Department of Mathematics at Robert Morris University is soliciting applications for a LECTURER position in Actuarial Science. Candidates should possess a masters or doctorate in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science or a related field as well as either the ASA, ACAS, FSA, or FCAS (or equivalent) credential in Actuarial Science. The candidate should have the necessary training and background to teach across a broad spectrum of actuarial science, statistics, and mathematics courses. Primary consideration will be given to individuals whose background and interests will closely align with the department’s actuarial science emphasis.
1. Will teach broad range of actuarial science and statistics courses - Essential 2. Will teach general education and service math courses as needed - Essential 3. Will act as advisor to actuarial science students - Essential 4. Will perform outcomes assessments as required by the department, school, and university Essential 5. Will confer with actuarial science faculty on curriculum - Essential 6. Will provide duties required to maintain RMU’s Actuarial Science Center of Actuarial Excellence - Essential 7. Will provide support to actuarial science students when attempting exams - Essential 8. Will assist in recruiting high school students - Essential 9. Will participate in mathematics department meetings - Essential 1. Will assist in other mathematics and statistics curriculum review when requested - Secondary 2. Will review textbooks when asked - Secondary
• Candidates need to possess a masters or doctorate in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science or a related field • Candidates must possess either the ASA, ACAS, FSA, or FCAS (or equivalent) credential in Actuarial Science. • Candidate should have some teaching experience preferably in Actuarial Science but if not, in a Math related field.
