Overview:
This position is responsible for advising incoming undergraduate students and assisting the school in recruitment and career placement activities. Work is performed under the supervision of the Associate/Assistant Dean of the School of Business.
Responsibilities:
  • Advise prospective students regarding the business programs, requirements for admission, necessary prerequisites. 
  • Responsible for advising freshman and sophomore business students, including transfer students. Point of contact in case of emergency or absence of advisor, and for all undecided, international and transfer students. 
  • Track and target at-risk students for special advising, and conduct special programs for student retention. Establishes initial communication and provides ongoing advisement for all students related to progression and retention. 
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining a database on all incoming students to track their academic performances.  
  • In consultation with departments, use data related to enrollment and progression to develop plans for proposed semester course offerings. In collaboration with SBUS academic departments, determines semester course scheduling and works with them by required deadlines. 
  • Responsible for monitoring retention and developing reports to the SBUS Administration. Conduct regular analysis and provide recommendations on program performance in the areas of persistence, graduation, workflow efficacy, customer satisfaction, demographics, and other key retention drivers. The diversity data should be included in the reports. 
  • Work with Academic Affairs and the Career and Professional Development Center to help with commonly asked questions. 
  • Facilitates changes in student enrollment status from undergraduate to graduate programs as necessary. 
  • Develop expertise in our Student Success Collaborative CRM tool, Navigate, including but not limited to data analytics, reporting, and campaigns. Serve as a point of contact for faculty concerning this software. 
  • In conjunction with Department Heads, serve as a point of contact to advise students interested in RMU graduate, integrated, and accelerated programs. 
  • Communicate with department heads and the Deans’ office issues and problems occurring.
  • In conjunction with the academic departments, keep all programs of study up to date. 
  • Conduct on-site interviews for prospective students and their families. 
  • Responsible for attending college days, college nights, college fairs, and various other recruiting programs that are deemed necessary in order to recruit business students to the University. 
  • Assist in developing various marketing endeavors to market the business programs to all audiences, websites for new initiatives and programs as well as maintaining the existing websites for the School of Business. 
  • Responsible for all freshman and transfer orientation activities and functions. 
  • Works with the admissions counselor and refers students to the appropriate admissions counselor, financial aid or director for follow up as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, or Communications field is required. Masters and/or Ph.D. is preferred.
  • Recruitment and student advising experience.
  • Experience with working in higher education is preferred.
  • Knowledge of academic environments.
  • MS Word, Excel, and Power Point skills are required. Strong technology, social media and computer skills are preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and attention to detail. Strong professional communication, interpersonal and organizational skills; problem solving skills; ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work without supervision; ability to make independent judgments. Good customer relations skills needed to interact closely with staff, faculty and students, deal with multiple constituencies and work with a diverse population.
