Overview:
Robert Morris University (RMU) is transitioning to an in-house management model for the UPMC Events Center and is seeking a dynamic and strategic Marketing Manager. This role is central to driving revenue, enhancing brand awareness, and managing the public image of our premier multi-purpose facility. Reporting directly to the UPMC Events Center General Manager, the Marketing Manager will lead the marketing department in developing creative campaigns that promote the venue and its diverse calendar of events to the campus and the broader community. Facility Overview The UPMC Events Center, which opened in May 2019, is a 161,000 square foot facility on the campus of Robert Morris University. It serves as the home for RMU Colonial Men’s and Women’s Basketball and Women’s Volleyball, while also hosting concerts, commencement, conferences, featured speakers, and banquets. The venue features a 4,000+ seat arena and the 11,000 sq. ft. UPMC Health Plan Conference Center.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans and budgets for all concerts, sporting events, and shows.
- Create and execute marketing plans specifically tailored to promote artists and tours coming to the venue.
- Design creative collateral and grassroots initiatives to promote revenue-generating areas.
- Research current music and venue marketing trends to implement best practices.
- Maintain relationships with local media partners and promoters.
- Oversee media buying, billing, and the development of cash/trade proposals across digital, radio, print, TV, and outdoor platforms.
- Prepare press releases for venue initiatives and specific events.
- Manage the "brand voice" across all social media platforms and drive consumer engagement.
- Administer post scheduling and engage directly with fans on social networks.
- Execute email marketing and digital promotions to drive ticket sales.
- Manage internal assets including digital marquees, in-game video boards, and LED ribbons.
- Collaborate with RMU Athletics to ensure athletic and non-athletic events are cross-promoted effectively.
- Work closely with the Box Office to ensure event accuracy and with the General Manager on post-show recaps.
- Support Corporate Sales and develop Group Sales plans and databases.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (or equivalent work experience) is required.
- Minimum of 3–5+ years in marketing or advertising. Arena or venue marketing experience is highly preferred.
- "Power user" of social media tools with a deep understanding of online consumer engagement.
- Proficiency in MS Office and data processing applications.
- Excellent organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet strict deadlines.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the event calendar.
