The Department of Psychology and Health Sciences in the School of Nursing, Education, and Human Studies invites applicants for an immediate opening of Program Director, Health Sciences. The B.S. in Health Sciences degree program which started in August 2021, offers three concentrations: the Pre-Professional Allied Health Concentration, the Population Health Concentration, and the General Concentration. The department houses undergraduate programs in Health Sciences, Health Services Administration, Advanced Medical Imaging Technology, Psychology, and Wellness as well as graduate programs in Health Services Administration and Counseling Psychology. The Director is responsible for the overall administration and management of the Health Sciences program. Essential functions of the role include student recruitment and retention efforts; monitoring student progression and graduation requirements; collection and analysis of program-related data, including student outcomes and program evaluation.
1. Collect, analyze, and report outcomes assessment data to administrators, committee and board members, and regulatory and accrediting bodies as needed. 2. Serve as the leader of the Health Sciences Council to include: conducting Council meetings on a regular basis; coordinating reviews of student progression issues; recommending topics for professional development; reporting information from Council to department and school meetings as needed. 3. Collaborate with the Admissions Office to facilitate recruitment initiatives and enrollment efforts. Assist with reviewing new and transfer applications for admission to the program. 4. Maintain a comprehensive database of student assessment data and effectively monitor all course failures, course withdrawals, progression issues, program dismissals and other information related to attrition and degree completion. 5. Orient and mentor faculty teaching in the program concentrations. Supervise staff members identified as direct reports. Review the performance of faculty, staff and graduate assistants in collaboration with the Department Head where appropriate. 6. Build professional relationships with potential program healthcare partners. 7. Teach effectively in the undergraduate health sciences program. Maintain a teaching load as assigned by the Department Head.
This position requires an earned doctorate in education, leadership or health science related field. An equivalent terminal degree in the health sciences be considered.
