Assistant Athletic Director, Marketing and Fan Experience

Overview:
Serves as the chief marketing officer for the department. Responsible for the development, organization, and implementation of marketing and digital media programs and strategies designed to increase fan engagement and drive attendance to athletic events.
 
Serves as the lead marketing position for the Athletics department and collaborates with university marketing in the development and execution of department strategies related to marketing, advertising, design, social media and branding.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement marketing and digital media and social media strategies to increase engagement, revenue generation and drive attendance to athletic events in alignment with the university and department of intercollegiate athletics brand standards
  • Develop annual marketing and promotional campaigns and activities to promote attendance and ticket sales at home athletic events, with a primary focus on revenue-generating sports
  • Develop, administer, and execute detailed game day plans including video operations, the production of game scripts, videoboards creative producing elements, in-game promotions, and corresponding digital content to create an engaging and high energy atmosphere to enhance the fan experience
  • Responsible for development, coordination, and implementation of digital media content strategies for the department of intercollegiate athletics
  • Collaborate with media relations to advise head and assistant coaches on the development and implementation of social media strategies and content production for sport specific social media accounts
  • Assist with the development of multimedia content for the department of intercollegiate athletics in collaboration with department's video coordinator
  • Analyze market segments and conducts research to determine best method to reach target audiences
  • Assist with the development and implementation of public relations strategies for the department of intercollegiate athletics
  • Assist the department with special events and sport specific fundraising projects.
  • Represent the department at various conferences, community and university functions or events
  • Assist in the fulfillment and activation of corporate sponsorship contracts
  • Serve as game day event supervisor and coordinate support staff for home athletic events
  • Manage and supervise external operations interns and game day event staff
  • Oversight of cheer and dance squads
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Associate Director of Athletics, External Operations
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Minimum one-three years’ experience at an NCAA Division I institution or conference or in professional sports is required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Ability to be available by phone and/or email after typical business hours
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Required: Adobe Creative Suite Experience (Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign, etc...)
