RMU Residential Summer Camp Counselor

Overview:
This position is a one week-long residential commitment focusing mainly on creating a safe, supportive, and enjoyable experience for the participants. This requires overnight stay on campus all week residine in the dormitories.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee, support and keep campers safe while the campers will be studying Sport Communication, Theatre & Media Arts, International Business & Data Visualization, Lego Robotics, and Nursing & Biomedical Engineering.
  • Oversee, support and keep campers safe. Campers will consist of American high school students and Japanese high school students from Saitama, Japan, Pittsburgh's sister city.
  • Oversee, support and keep campers safe while they take part in the camp experiences together as well as field trips to Neville Island and a Pittsburgh Pirate game along with other social activities taking place on RMU's campus.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school graduate
  • 1 year
  • Current or past RMU undergraduate or graduate student is given preference • Preference will be given to Engineering, Sports Communications, and Humanities majors. • Prior experience working with youth in a camp counselor, mentor or teacher role preferred • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially in cross-cultural settings • Positive demeanor • Up-to-date child abuse clearance, FBI fingerprinting clearance, and criminal background check
