Overview:
Robert Morris University (RMU) is seeking a compassionate and experienced part-time special education instructor who can provide exceptional support to students with diverse learning needs. We are seeking an instructor with exceptional patience and empathy, a strong understanding of learning disabilities, excellent documentation skills, and an unwavering commitment to student growth and development.
Responsibilities:
SDIN 3055 Autism Spectrum Disorders: This course provides an overview of characteristics, assessment, and teaching strategies for students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Current issues related to etiology, diagnosis, prevalence, prioritizing areas of teaching, environmental arrangements, and evidence-based practices will be discussed. Special emphasis is placed on the use of Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS) and principles of Applied Behavior Analysis. Field experiences are embedded in this course. The special education instructor will design adaptive learning strategies, support students with diverse learning needs, and collaborate closely with general education teachers. Key responsibilities include implementing individualized educational approaches and conducting comprehensive student assessments to ensure each student receives personalized support.
Minimum Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will hold a Master's degree in Special Education with state certification. We require a minimum of 5 years of specialized teaching experience, a deep understanding of inclusive education practices, and comprehensive knowledge of individualized education plans (IEPs).
