Overview:
Reporting to the Department Head of Education, the Certification and Field Placement Specialist supports the teacher preparation process from candidacy through certification. The Certification and Field Placement Specialist works collaboratively with students, school districts, and university personnel to ensure cooperative and timely placement. This role also involves managing student clearances, student teaching processes, certification data systems, and accreditation and assessment data. This 10-month position is a student facing position requiring a physical presence on campus.
Responsibilities:
- Assist faculty and administrators with field placement assignments and trainings for undergraduate and graduate students in Pre-K–12 settings.
- Maintain accurate student records, including clearances, placements, affiliation agreements, and certification documentation.
- Review and verify student clearances for compliance with institutional, state, and federal requirements.
- Manage student data for accreditation and assessment purposes in designated systems.
- Participate in accreditation efforts including facilitating assessment measures, summarizing data, and preparing data for accreditation reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of administrative experience in higher education or teacher preparation programs.
- Experience in student data systems (e.g., TIMS) along with proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite.
- Strong understanding of PDE certification and clearance requirements.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work independently and make independent judgements.
- Customer service and student focused; ability to work well in a team environment.
- Commitment to ethical practice.
- Teacher certification preferred.
