Overview:
The Senior Associate Athletic Director / Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) is a cabinet-level position reporting to the Vice President and Athletic Director. This role is responsible for the comprehensive oversight of the department's revenue-producing units, including development, corporate sponsorships, and external hospitality. The CRO will be an energetic, self-motivated leader with a passion for the mission of Robert Morris University, tasked with identifying and securing philanthropic and corporate support to sustain the future of RMU Athletics.
Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of the Vice President and Director of Athletics, the Senior Associate Athletic Director / Chief Revenue Officer is responsible for the strategic leadership, identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of alumni and friends of Robert Morris University to increase philanthropic support and overall external revenue. The incumbent serves as the primary architect for the department’s revenue generation strategies, ensuring collaboration across campus departments to sustain a robust external operations department.
- Personnel Leadership: Serves as the supervisor for a team of Development Officers and external staff (including the Director of Development for Hockey and General Manager of Corporate Sponsorships), overseeing hiring, performance reviews, and professional development.
- Donor Relations: Acts as the primary contact for alumni and friends to strengthen relationships and encourage financial support from both current and prospective donors.
- Portfolio Management: Manages a portfolio of up to 300 major gift prospects and donors; requires a high degree of independent judgment and a minimum of 20 visits per month.
- Revenue Strategy: Develops and executes overall revenue generation strategic planning and annual core priorities, including oversight of the 50/50 Raffle and Guest Service Kiosk operations.
- Is responsible for an additional portfolio of donors at all giving levels from Sponsorship & Sales: Directs the General Manager of Corporate Sponsorship and Sales to ensure the solicitation, execution, and reconciliation of corporate revenue and sponsorship activation.
- Gift Cycle Management: Participates in all aspects of the gift cycle, specifically initiating contact with potential leadership and major gift ($10,000+) donors and closing solicitations.
- External Liaising: Serves as the primary athletics liaison for Parkhurst (concessions/hospitality) and Institutional Advancement.
- Event & Media Engagement: Attends campaign, athletic, and alumni events to engage prospects. Coordinates with Marketing and Fan Experience on revenue-generating media such as coaches' shows and local simulcasts.
- Administrative Oversight: Monitors all prospect contacts in the database to ensure purposeful donor relations.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, masters degree preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated leadership in advancement or external operations, preferably in higher education, including fundraising, corporate sales, or alumni affairs.
- Must possess outstanding management, planning, and organizational skills to work in a results-based team environment.
- Valid drivers license or reliable transportation to travel on behalf of the University is required.
