Overview:
Under general supervision of the Center for Outreach & Impact, the Camp Coordinator provides direction and supervision to Site Directors and Camp Counselors to ensure that the RMU guidelines, safety policies and procedures are being followed in all summer camp programming. Camp Coordinator will supervise, manage, and support camp staff during the summer season while working to ensure a fun and safe space for campers and camp staff. This is a non-exempt salary position with the possibility of overnight work hours that will be determined upon assignment. Position requires 1-2 hours/week from March through June based on a flexible schedule alignment. Position requires 5 hours/week June 1st-16th and 8am-4pm June 17th-21st. Residential (overnight) stay with working hours 8am-10am; 4pm-10pm June 23rd-28th. Position requires “on call” status after 10pm.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead, supervise, mentor, and evaluate Camp Counselors in their performance.
  • Create, implement and lead a variety of non-competitive activities such as arts and crafts, games, hikes, field trips, sports, and possible overnight activities.
  • Create and enforce rules and staff expectations.
  • Collect and make weekly purchase requests for staff equipment and supply.
  • Ensure camp operations are running smoothly by remaining in contact with camp staff.
  • Work with camp families to answer any questions and resolve any issues.
  • Lead in creation and implementation of In-Service Staff training.
  • Lead in all training and staff meetings.
  • Lead, supervise, mentor, and evaluate Camp Counselors in their performance.
  • Work well with a diverse population of staff children in a variety of activities and situations.
  • Responsible for assuring the program meets the needs of the participants.
  • Understand and be prepared to activate Emergency Action Plans; perform First Aid and CPR as necessary.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with parents, Camp Counselors, and Supervisors.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable RMU policies including Protection of Minors and Title IX.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must commit to entire program dates, including in-service training and camp wrap-up.
  • Must have Satisfactory background clearances.
  • Experience in leadership roles in summer camp and/or youth programs.
  • Display a high level of motivation, integrity, customer service, and professionalism.
  • CPR Certification
