Overview:
Provide safe, appropriate group exercise class instruction for participants of all ages and fitness levels, including students, faculty, and staff by adhering to teaching methods and modalities accepted as safe and appropriate by Campus Recreation and industry professionals/governing bodies that Campus Recreation promotes.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety of all class participants through safely lead group exercise classes. Instructors should teach and model appropriate forms for exercise, and conduct classes in a professional manner. Responsible for facilitating a fun, safe and welcoming environment for participants and staff members at all times.
- Maintain all certifications.
- Welcome participants to class and record participation.
- Perform setup and takedown for classes.
- Model, promote, and consistently enforce policies for Campus Recreation.
- Provide positive public relations, program promotion, and policy education to participants pertaining to Campus Recreation.
- Maintain appropriate level of fitness for class being taught.
- Maintain written and oral communications with other fitness staff, supervisors, and administrative staff.
- Attend staff meetings and trainings.
- Other duties to be assigned. This is a part-time position not eligible for University benefits. Work hours are limited to 950 per calendar year and less than 29 hours per week on a regular basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
- H.S. Diploma or GED is required.
- 1+ years of experience in the fitness industry is required.
- Maintain written and oral communications with other fitness staff, supervisors, and administrative staff. Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
- Nationally recognized fitness certification.
- CPR/First Aid Certified is preferred.
