Overview:
This position is primarily responsible for the financial tracking of all events held at the UPMC Event Center. This may include customer invoicing, event expense tracking, and payment follow-up. This position is also responsible for creating fixed assets, managing the CIP accounts, managing the capital project expenditures and budgeting, and completing the annual capital and depreciation budgets. This position will also assist the Accounting Manager with monthly close and reporting requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for completing and tracking all financial activities at the UPMC Event Center. This may include creating invoices to provide for customers, collecting event payments, and processing invoices related to the event activities.
- May be required to be on campus during events in the evening or weekend.
- Responsible for creating assets, reviewing all purchase requisitions over our Fixed Asset policy minimum to determine the asset/expense distinction and reviewing the company purchase card transactions for assets according to our Fixed Asset policy.
- Responsible for preparing the capital budget and the depreciation budget for each fiscal year.
- Maintain a monthly review of all Construction in Progress accounts to identify completed projects placed in service during the month.
- Perform the monthly close procedures for the Fixed Asset Subledger.
- Create and maintain a Capital Project Report to track current projects and expenses vs. budget.
- Track capital fund emergency project requests and periodically provide the remaining budgeted amount to the CFO and Chief Accounting Officer and Controller.
- Perform monthly close and account reconciliations as assigned.
- Prepare year-end closing and audit entries as assigned including, but not limited to, the annual fixed asset roll forward schedule.
- Serve as backup for maintaining the Island Sports Center Daily Cash Activities as needed.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
- 3-5 years of relevant event accounting, fixed asset, and/or general ledger
- experience in an accounting department preferred.
- In-depth understanding of accounting concepts/procedures financial statement review and
- analysis, journal entries, and account reconciliation analysis
- In-depth understanding of fixed asset and capital concepts
- Comprehensive understanding of financial impact within an organization’s business operations
- Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and quality of work.
- High initiative, self-starter, and team-oriented focus.
- Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with heavy emphasis on Excel.
