Overview:
Robert Morris University’s Academic Media Center (AMC) seeks a highly organized and skilled individual to serve as Media Project Manager. This role is central to the operational efficiency and cross-campus coordination of the university’s media ecosystem, ensuring that the AMC's resources are effectively deployed to support academic, athletic, branding, and student experience initiatives. The Media Project Manager is responsible for administering the center's assignment system, facilitating seamless collaboration with key campus stakeholders, managing the booking of physical resources, and convening student content producers. This role includes direct student mentorship to support experiential learning in media production and project management. This is a Part-time, non-benefit eligible position limited to no more than 950 hours in a calendar year.
Responsibilities:
- Administer the Academic Media Center assignment system (Camayak) including logging, tracking, and distributing production requests and assignments to appropriate student media programs, work studies and RMU Ready participants.
- Coordinate and maintain ongoing communication with content and event stakeholders across the university, including Academics, Athletics, Brand, Information Technology, Recreation, Residential Life, and Wellness, to align AMC production schedules with campus needs.
- Support the booking and scheduling of AMC physical resources, including studios, control rooms, editing suites, and equipment, optimizing usage and resolving scheduling conflicts.
- Convene and lead the bi-weekly student content producers meeting, facilitating communication, project updates, and collaboration across all student media programs (e.g., RMU TV, RMU Radio, Sentry Media).
- Mentor one or more specific student media programs (e.g., Colonial Sports Center and/or The Bobby Mo Game Show), providing guidance on content development, and production workflow.
- Generate regular reports for the AMC Director detailing project status, resource utilization, and cross-campus coordination outcomes.
- Support the annual Academic Media Center Summer Retreat and media skills onboarding throughout the year on RMU Ready.
- Assist the AMC Director in developing and documenting standardized project management processes for all productions.
- Perform related duties as assigned by the AMC Director.
Minimum Qualifications:
- M.A Communications, Multimedia, Project Management, or a related field preferred. Candidates with demonstrable experience in project management within a media environment may also be considered.
- At least three years of experience in project coordination, management, or scheduling, preferably in a media, broadcast, or academic setting, is required. Experience working with student or volunteer teams in a mentorship capacity is preferred. Familiarity with academic or student media environments is a plus.
- Demonstrated organizational and project management skills, including proficiency with assignment tracking, scheduling software, and communication tools, is required. Familiarity with Camayak is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to coordinate across diverse campus departments required.
- Working knowledge of media production workflows (video, audio, or print) and content distribution platforms is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings, manage conflict, and build consensus among student and professional stakeholders.
- A flexible schedule congruent to the needs of the AMC, including availability for day and evening meetings or events as required.
