Overview:
The Testing Center Proctor will be assist students, faculty, and staff with the academic accommodation testing needs within the Center for Student Success and the Student Accessability Services (SAS) Testing Center. SAS provides proctoring services for students who are registered with our office and have approved testing accommodations. This position works a set weekday schedule according to the university's academic calendar and Testing Center operation. This is a part-time, not benefit eligible position limited to no more than 950 hours per year and generally no more than 29 hours per week on a regular basis.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing student exam appointments and sending appointment confirmation emails to instructors and other staff proctors
- Print, prepare, and manage physical exam materials, as well as sensitive online exam passwords and logistics
- Maintain Testing Center practices and protocols as outlined
- Assist with check-in and check-out of exam appointments
- Monitor testing room(s) for testing irregularities or concerning behaviors
- Inform student(s) of their permitted items before the exam, if any, such as notes, books, calculation devices, and diagrams
- Ensure student(s) do not have prohibited items such as cell phones, smart watches, earbuds, electronic devices, flash drives, notes, books, purses, and backpacks
- Provide approved testing materials and tools
- Set up appropriate and approved accessible technology (ie. NaturalReader) upon request before scheduled appointment begins
- Provide student(s) with general timelines for taking an exam
- Keep track of assigned testing time(s) and provide 10 and 5-minute warnings for timed exams
- Ensure compliance with the university's Academic Integrity Policy in the Testing Center
- Maintain communication with department staff in case of emergency, academic integrity concerns, or unapproved behaviors
- Support the overall functions of the Center for Student Success
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Previous experience working in a college/university setting preferred
- Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills;
- Dependable and punctual for work and assigned duties;
- Attention to detail;
- Ability to follow outlined procedures;
- Computer proficiency;
- Professional demeanor; and
- Strong student development and customer service orientation
